each one is made to the arm length of its owner and there is a science to the hand to handle size thte length of the arm to blade and width of the hand ect

the problem with the arm length thing is that it should be custommade for every customer. i for instance am a giant most stuff i make for myself is considered swordlike to most people wile to me its just a sidearm

Most of what I do are early Germanic single edge sword.Or vimose seax.
The length of the blade should be the length of your arm from shoulder to wrist the handle should be from tip of the middle figure to the wrist.
Its a close range weapon,some wear it on the right side with a shield in the left hand and spear in the right.
But I do other styles of seaxs as well plus swords.
the longest vimose seax was 38" over all with a 28"blade that was 3"wide
The new one that I and my brothers of the forge are making for a house gift is going to be 49 1/2" over all with a 38 1/2"blade length.
